Sharon Middle and High School will be moving to full virtual instruction status beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 22, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. This move is being made following consultation with the PA Department of Health and is due to a continued spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases that have been reported by individuals within the building. The parents of any student who may have been in close contact with an infected individual have been notified and those students have been placed on quarantine. The building will be isolated for 24 hours and then undergo a complete deep clean before the students and staff return for instruction. Students have been asked to take their Chromebooks and chargers home today. If they did not do so, please reach out to your child’s teacher for direction. Due to this move to virtual all activities at the Middle/High School have been suspended and will reactivate on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Please be reminded that meals will still be provided at the Middle/High School at no charge between 9:45 and 10:15 am each school day for those wishing to participate.

The PA Public Utility Commission (PUC) has created the Advance Education Brochure explaining the soon-to-be-implemented Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program. The EBB gives qualifying households money to buy internet service or equipment to use the internet if they are eligible. This program should be of particular interest to parents of school age students (Free or Reduced Lunch makes a household eligible), and students attending colleges and universities (Pell Grant recipients are eligible). This program is not yet activated. However, the funding is expected to go quickly and will be administered on a first come/first served basis. More information about this program is also available on the FCC’s webpage at www.fcc.gov.

Dear Facility Patrons of Sharon City School District, During the Covid pandemic The Sharon City School District has worked diligently to maintain our facilities both inside and outside school buildings in order to keep both our students and employees safe. In July of last school year, under the terms of the district health and safety plan, we stated that we could begin to receive requests for use of outside facilities only that included the locations of Sharon Tiger Stadium, both Jefferson and Wengler ballfields, all practice sites at Hadley and Westerman, and practice fields at Sharon Middle/HS. Patrons requesting to use these sites were asked to submit a completed facility contract, certificate of insurance, and a detailed mitigation plan that followed all guidelines from Governor Wolf, CDC, and Sharon City School District's Health and Safety Plan. It was also stated that once received, such requests would then need to be approved by the Board of Education. It has come to our attention that outside patrons both inside and outside of Sharon are just showing up to our properties and holding organized games and practices without approval from the Board of Education and during Sharon student athletic practices without mitigation in place. This will not be tolerated. Please be advised that if any outside organization not associated with the Sharon City School District is found on any property without proper approval and paperwork on file, you will be asked to leave and the Sharon City Police Department will be contacted. If you want to use our facilities we kindly ask that you follow the procedures. If you have any questions about the use of facilities, please contact Sharon M/HS Assistant Principal, Mrs. Dawn Blair at 724-983-4030.

Pennsylvania has recently opened vaccine eligibility which would cover our students who are in their junior or senior year. If a student wants to be vaccinated – students are limited to Pfizer – UPMC offers clinics at the Shenango Valley Mall in the old Sears store every Wednesday. Clinics run until 3:45. There are sites as well…if the students go to https://vaccine.upmc.com they can see all the sites and get additional information.
